Belinda
and I met in May of 1994 in Carbondale, Illinois at church. I new at first glance that she was the
one whom God had promised; however Belinda needed a little more convincing, so the courtship began.
Sometimes I would go into her neighborhood in hopes of seeing her;
if only for a couple minutes. The sight of her would brighten my day.
I saw her talking with a man one day and I thought it was her husband. I was thrilled
to learned it was her brother. So, one day I called her brother and told him I was coming over to talk to Belinda. She
was just getting home from work when I arrived. We talked for about three hours, I was so spellbound that I was
late for choir rehearsal.
After our talk I was more convinced that she was that special person I had waited
to come into my life. Our birthdays are only a day apart and we share other common interests.
I would ask Belinda to marry me almost everyday, but she would
shy away. I told her and everyone who would listen that she was the woman of my dreams. Sometimes she would come to church
to hear me preach.
My thoughts were always of Belinda, Belinda.......Belinda.
I would fall asleep with her on my mind. When I woke up in the morning, my thoughts were Belinda, Belinda ......Belinda.
I would think about her all day.
Well, Belinda and I were married on December 24, 1997 in Marion,
Illinois. Two years later we had a beautiful baby daughter, Nakela. She is a very spoiled three year old
but she is her daddy's little girl. We also have two other children, Rayard and Arnisha.
I am employed at RentWay as the Assistant Manager in Murphysboro,
Illinois. Belinda (my wife) is an alumna of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. She received a BS in Economics
in 1995. She is a Program Coordinator and Home Manager for Community Alternatives of Illinois where she supervise other
CILA Residences.
